What is your connection with the cancer community?
When I was a junior in high school, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The emotional roller coaster and unpredictability of the disease served to derail her once steadfast confidence and courage. As I tried to remain positive and supportive to keep her from losing faith, I realized that all I could do was to keep my own fears at bay and pray for a miracle. After all these years, I have realized how short life can be sometimes and am ever more grateful for every moment that I can spend with my friends and family.
Why are you riding the 4K for Cancer?
Ever since high school I have always tried to find a meaningful way to join the fight against cancer. Thus, this summer I will be biking 4,000 miles from Baltimore to San Francisco. I am dedicating my journey across America to my mother and all my friends and family that have been affected by cancer. This ride is just my way of doing a small part to find a cure to this deadly disease. The road ahead will be challenging, but together with the rest of the team, our hosts, donors, and new friends along the journey, I know that there will be nothing that can stand in the way of the 4K team.
