What is your connection with the cancer community?
Cancer first affected my life when I was 9 when a family friend passed away from bone cancer. Her name was Janet Yeske, and was a gym teacher at Deep Creek Middle School. At the time I had no idea how serious the disease was. The cancer quickly spread and took her life 5 days before my 10th birthday. Several years ago Kim Hultberg, my aunt, was diagnosed with breast cancer. It is her strength and determination that she has shown through her battle that has encouraged me to get involved in the cancer community. More recently, on February 1st 2010, Megan Estey lost her battle to brain cancer at the age of 16. Megan was one of the most courageous people I ever had the opportunity to meet. Her strength, positive attitude and amazing sense of humor through the most difficult of times has inspired me to carry on her legacy and to inspire others battling cancer.
Why are you riding the 4K for Cancer?
