What is your connection with the cancer community?
My connection to the cancer community is that I am devoting my time and energy...and later my entire summer...do be an instrument of hope and support. I have been an extremely fortunate individual to have not lost a loved one or to be personally diagnosed with the disease, and that is what makes me that much more motivated to be a part of the cause. If it takes a year’s worth of fundraising and outreach and almost an entire summer peddling across the country to make my mark and do my part, then I am ready to embrace the opportunity.
Why are you riding the 4K for Cancer?
I find it very difficult to answer this question without sounding a bit cheesy, but being a rider in 4K for Cancer means the world to me. Throughout my first three years as an undergrad, I have immersed myself in clubs and activities involving philanthropy and community service. While it warms my heart to partake in philanthropic events and causes, I am very eager to start making a bigger mark on the world. I want to look back on my college experience knowing that I did something that I can look back on and be proud of. Coming from the introspective point of view, I want to ride in the 4k to have the best summer of my life. I want to meet new people, make some new friends, push myself even further physically past my previous endeavors, be a role model, and provide support to those who need someone to share their stength. I do my best to never take my blessed life for granted and to appreciate the wonderful people I am fortunate to have in my life. I want to partake in this amazing experience as my personal thank you, and to share my hope and support among some of those who need it the most.
