What is your connection to the Cancer Community?
I do not have a direct connection to the Cancer Community but I feel compelled to use my abilities to fight against cancer. Although I haven't lost any close family members or friends to cancer, I have seen how devastating terminal illnesses can be and how powerful support from friends, family, and communities can be, as well.
Why are you traveling over 4000 miles this summer with the 4K?
Being a rider with the 4K allows me to be a part of something bigger than myself. I really enjoy doing physical activities for a purpose, especially biking, but to do it for the cause against cancer adds a great deal of meaning and an opportunity for growth. I completed a 300 mile bike tour for Make-A-Wish Michigan this past summer and was greatly moved by my fellow participants and their personal stories. I believe in living my life to the fullest, using my abilities to advocate for others, and raising awareness about pressing needs in our society.
