What is your connection with the cancer community?
Cancer is a sickness we can't ignore because so many family members, friends, and strangers are affected by it. I am very lucky to say that nobody close to me has died because of cancer but I also know that there are millions of people battling with this sickness everyday. My close friend has been battling with brain cancer for years and I am proud of how strong she has been. She left for St. Jude Hospital during the end of last summer, right before her first semester of college, and came back just as optimistic as she was before. I am so thankful to have a friend like her because she inspires me to overcome obstacles and never give up.
Why are you riding the 4K for Cancer?
My friend introduced me to 4K for Cancer and he encouraged me to dedicate this journey to the brave patients, my loving family, and supportive friends. I am riding 4,000 miles to accomplish something I never thought I would do and have the most amazing experience of my life. But more importantly, I am riding to fight for those who aren't able to, to make a positive change in at least one person's life, and to learn more about the cancer community this summer. As I raise awareness, I hope to inspire more ordinary people like me to make a difference in the world and realize that it can be made possible through the help of friends and family.
