2011 Baltimore to San Francisco

The route shown on the map is approximate.

2011 marks our 10th year of cycling from Baltimore to San Francisco.  The ride was our first trip in 2002 and we have been cycling the same backroads for the past ten years.  With the addition of our new Baltimore to Portland and Baltimore to Seattle rides, the San Francisco route takes on a more southernly route this year as we head through Virginia and Kentucky for the first time ever.  Our new route continues through southern Illinois and Missouri before joining back up with our traditional route in Kansas and Colorado.

Route highlights include cycling through the Rocky Mountain, Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Parks.  Our riders will also have the chance to explore the north rim of the Grand Canyon before the long, lonely trek through Nevada brings us to Lake Tahoe and the promised land of California!  This year we are visiting the great town of Davis, skipping down through Napa’s famous Wine Country before crossing the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco.

Visit the ride pages on the right had side to follow the daily blogs of all our riders.  You can also go directly to a rider’s page to see just their posts.
