Spaghetti Ranch

July 10, 2012 | Day 41

Casey, Alex,  Abe, Ella and I hit the streets on two wheels to travel from Sundance to Gillette… All on one road… We sauntered and still made it in by noon… Stopped for gas station coffee along the route.

Our host in Gillette was the Campbell County Rec Center… They were immensely kind to us. They let us use their facility and we had a blast. We went swimming in their pool, used their hot tub and took part in their body water slide and their tube water slide which both wrapped around the outside of the building and were a lot of fun. We also experienced their whirl pool and tried walking across their floating inflatable course…. Fun times !

A handful of us asked and were granted access to their rock wall… The tallest in Wyoming… Did some top roping which was great fun.

Thank you thank you thank you to such warm hosts!

Further, we had dinner provided by the amazing women of the Eastern Order… It was a big spaghetti feed which I quite enjoyed.

After dinner most of us drove out to meet Linda… A woman Johnny had met earlier that day who invited us out to her ranch. Very cool to find such spontaneous hospitality.

It is a beautiful peace of land- 4000 acres in the sprawling Wyoming wilderness… Cattle, elk, horses… Linda allowed us to try riding one of her horses bare back which was an awesome experience… She and her husband Bob were incredibly kind, cool people. We sat out on their porch and watched as thousands of stars appeared whilst Linda made us elk burgers to try… They said their diet was majority elk which they hunt themselves. I quite liked the burgers. Thank you to Linda and Bob!!!!!

Also saw some antelope today… The only antelope in  North America I hear.
