We decided to make our own teams for today’s ride, so I rode with Johnny, Melanie, Luke, and Ella.  It was 85 miles, which we’ve done before multiple times, but it was surprisingly difficult to finish today.  I think the heat was overpowering and really dehydrated us because I ran out of water twice today.

Ray, Ella, Liz, Lindsay, and I stayed at the wonderful home of Jim and Susan Eaton.  They were so generously hospitable (they made us quiche for breakfast!) and did us the favor of sharing the story of Julian, their grandson that died of cancer during his childhood.  It was a very touching story that inspired me further to do my best during this trip.
