Minneapolis, MN to Lake Lillian, MN

June 28, 2012 | Day 31

Today I rode with Alex, Lindsay, and Melanie.  It was a hot and windy day, but we were cruising at a good 20+ mile per hour pace for about 30 miles!  It was very exciting to make such good time.  There was some drama with the water van misplacing our water stops (we usually have the stops at every 20 miles, but they accidentally placed the stop at 16 miles and 45 miles).

During the last 20 miles before arriving to the old schoolhouse in Lake Lillian, I got extremely sleepy.  It’s surprisingly very easy to fall asleep while biking.  I told my riding group, and they helped me out by singing/screaming random songs with me.  There was a point where the four of us began yodeling, which left us laughing uncontrollably.

We eventually arrived at our host and had dinner with people in the town, which had a population of under 300.  At the end of the dinner, we got to tell the locals why each of us decided to ride for the 4K, and Luke, Alex, Spencer, Melanie, and I got to sing “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” as a quartet again.  We took awhile starting in the right key, but it went well!
