Grand Coulee, WA to Twisp, WA

August 2, 2012 | Day 63

Today Ella and I took responsibility of the food van.  Because there were such few restaurants in Grand Coulee and Twisp was bound to be the same, we decided it was worth the 1.5-hour drive to Wanatchee to find donated lunch.  I texted Connie, my cousin from Bellevue, WA, to find out more about Twisp, but she had never heard of it before.  Thank God we decided to go to Wanatchee, though… because Twisp turned out to be as small as 20 square blocks at the very most.

It feels great to be so close to Seattle!  We searched on Ella’s iPhone how close Grand Coulee was to Seattle, and it was only 4 hours away by car.  We toyed with the idea of driving to Seattle for food—not that we actually would have, even if it was closer.  Often I imagine what it’s going to feel like to bike into Seattle on that last day, seeing my whole family at the finish line.
