Missoula

July 23, 2011 | Day 55

After a couple great rides in Montana, the team rolled into Missoula, the touring cyclist capital of the world on Thursday, home of the Adventure Cycling Association! As demonstrated by this front yard full of flowers, Missoula is quite the enclave of hippies and hipsters.

When the team visited the Adventure Cycling headquarters we got a chance to hang out with a number of other long-distance cyclists, including Russ and Laura, whose blog I’ve been following for a year now! I had quite the celebrity moment.

Inside the ACA office, there is a wall of photos of all the cyclists who have stopped by this season. Here Valerie is, proudly pointing to our group shot! We heard about the Bikecentennial, the 1976 cross-country ride, with a route very similar to our own, which launched the ACA.

Onto Idaho today, after we all head to Camp-Mak-a-Dream, just east of Missoula, for a visit with the campers!
